Top things to do on the Cook Islands - My Aitutaki Itinerary
I thought I’d share some of the main things I got up to during my 4 days trip to the island of Aitutaki. In my opinion 2 full days are perfect to explore the island!

Day 1:
An Air Rarotonga flight takes you to Aitutaki. The flight takes about 45 minutes in a really tiny plane and the boarding pass was only a receipt.
Arriving at the airport, everyone got the loveliest welcome from their accommodation with a beautiful wreath of flowers and was taken to the accommodation.
I stayed overnight at Rino's. A budget friendly accommodation and it totally exceeded my expectations. I had a beachfront villa all to myself and every morning a delicious breakfast was brought to my bed.
Day 2:
There are two viewpoints on Aitutaki. I walked from my accommodation to both of them, but if yours is further away you can rent a scooter. It is also possible to take the scooter to Piraki Lookout, as it is on the side of the road.
To the Maunga Pu Summit you have to walk the last part up a very steep but short hill. The lagoon looks great from almost everywhere on the island, but this elevated and panoramic view is especially beautiful. It took me around three hours for both lookouts and to walk back to my accommodation.
Day 3:
A guided boat tour through the lagoon is not without reason the must do on Aitutaki. The tour was by far the highlight of my complete South Pacific trip!
Early in the morning I was picked up by the Teking Cruise at my accommodation and we went to the boat. We were divided into two groups on two boats, so there were only five of us on one.
We made a stop on Maina, Honeymoon and One Foot Island including their sandbank and went diving for three times on the way. It is incredibly beautiful there! I have never seen such crystal clear water before.
It is pure paradise, I can't even put it into words! I hope you get a first impression from the pictures what awaits you there. You even get a stamp in your passport - so be sure to take it on the cruise!
Day 4:
From Aitutaki I went back to Rarotonga. Two complete days are enough to see everything on Aitutaki! But if you just want to relax on the beach, you can spend as many additional days as you like there.
